Just once a year…

As department stores and supermarket chains get creative with polystyrene snow and baubles, the libraries too will be creating displays geared towards the festive season.

In fact, at Willesden, it’s feeling a bit like Christmas as we’ve just taken delivery of a huge selection of books – all shiny and new. Somehow the fact that they’re new is appealing in itself. It’s quite satisfying to pick up a book and flick through pages that haven’t been turned before… all crisp and clean. Or …maybe it’s just me!

I don’t bake. But there are so many beautiful books about cakes! With covers as deliciously tempting as the recipes inside. There are also more practical books about Renting Out Your Property and how to Do Your Own Divorce – not very uplifting? Maybe something more experimental like a Tarot bible or Working with Your Chakras.

So, this Christmas, why not give a gift to yourself. Gift yourself with a new skill or take on a new way of life*. Try your hand at Eco-Living, or learn How to Spot a Liar! If you change your mind, you can always exchange – for which you don’t even need a receipt!

Remember: library books are not just for Christmas.
